Wood Types: The Pioneers

Wood archetypes are the inventors, the change makers, visionaries, occasional risk takers, and seekers. They are eager to lead projects and business ventures, and it is because they are usually the inventors that they experience a lot through trial and error. Accepting failure and perseverance of continuing on is key to moving forward for wood types.

They enjoy opening minds to new ways of thinking, directing companies, leading parenting groups, they are also fashion trendsetters. Strong wood energy knows exactly what practical steps to take to bring their vision into reality. Grounding is very important for wood types, just like a plant needs enough soil to extend its roots to grow, so do wood people. Wood is known for its flexibility, to bend, and expand in different directions, as their environment changes, and so this is a key characteristic of wood types. They master the ability to adapt to the changes in their environment and projects. They master the art of knowing when to expand and when to contract, a balance between standing firm and also flexible.

Wood types are driven, self-motivated and often competitive. They enjoy being physically active during the day and feed off movement and mental stimulation. Wood people work well with others and also enjoy working independently.

WOOD TYPES CHALLENGES

Some challenges of wood types trying to expand too quickly or contract too much. This weakens them, slow and steady steps are best for wood types. When wood types exude too much yang (masculine) energy they may expand too quickly without the proper support. This is why wood types’ most common emotion when out of balance is frustration, which can lead to anger and depression. This can discourage wood types, and when they lose aspirations this sinks them future into depression as the wood’s natural state is to grow and expand. They benefit when they develop an inn guide they can listen to and navigate the impulses of expansion and contraction.

TOO MUCH YIN ENERGY

When a wood type expresses too much yin (feminine) energy, it can show up as a Metal energy influence. Although this helps wood grow at a slower, steady pace, by cutting down the forward movement, it can also be disruptive as it slows the growth energy wood craves. Most likely the Metal in a wood type’s life shows up as their inner voice, or in their relationships. Therefore, too much wood element can lead to rigidness, lacking the freedom to be creative, restricted by rules, and boundaries, not taking risks, becoming critical of self and others.

Wood types can benefit from meditation, to release the frustration of the slow and steady growth of their visionary ideas. This helps them connect more to the water element, which is also yin, and it nourishes the wood element. However wood types need to be mindful not to connect too much to the water element, as this may cause them to sink deeper inward, overly contemplating, too emotional to think objectively, and anti-social. This will inhibit them to take action which also leads to stagnation and depression.

TOO MUCH YANG ENERGY

An excess of wood energy (yang) can also create an imbalance of fire qualities. The fire element is great because it is what drives the wood ideas forward into manifestation. However, too much fire will cause wood types to burn out quickly, and can turn frustration into anger. When there is too much yang, the earth element usually provides the proper grounding and support they need in order to regain balance. For wood types, their best chance at maligning balance is learning to tell when it’s time to step back and relax and when to step forward and expand.
