What is a Bagua Map, and how can I apply it to my space?

The Bagua Map in Chinese means 8 areas surrounding the center space. As you can see below, each center or corners represents a different area of life where the energy is distributed throughout the space. Each area of the space corresponds to an element. The purpose of using this map is to understand which rooms are aligned with each area, and this will help you which rooms thrive most with certain elements and which elements to tone down. Once you are clear on how the Bagua Map aligns with your space, you can Shop by Gua, and easily make selections that best fit the space.

The simplest way to use the Bagua Map is by aligning the bottom line of the Bagua map with the front door of your space. If your front door is on the sides of the house, you can rotate the map, as long as you always align the front entry door with the bottom line of the map. If your door is in the middle of the map, then you would be walking into your Career area, or if the door is on the left, you’d be walking into your Wisdom area, or Travel area if it’s on the right.

Each room in the home will be associated with each gua, as you can see in the example below. There can be plans that will have missing corners, if this is your case, you treat those rooms as extensions to the gua. For example, some floor plans are not perfect squares or rectangles, and are more L shaped. If this is your case, overlay the map in a way where the map is covered, any extra rooms not under the map are treated as extras or extensions.
