Earth Types: The Stabilizers

Earth types are seen as the Mother archetype. Most mothers embody this element at some point in their lives, mainly at the start of motherhood. Earth types provide a stage for the other elements to play, and express themselves. This is provided with great joy, and the earth types are more comfortable taking the back seat, they don’t need credit or visibility. They feel most safe when they have everything and everyone under control. This is why change for earth types is difficult. They are always present for others, and provide great grounding forces. Earth types are trustworthy, dependable, and great listeners. They dislike conflict, and strive to keep harmonious relationships. Since sacrifice comes easy to them in order to do whatever it takes to support another, resentment can build up if they lose balance in giving and don’t allow themselves to also receive. Although they avoid change, when they do make a change, it’s drastic.

EARTH TYPES CHALLENGES

Change is their biggest challenge as mentioned before due to their deep grounding characteristics, and so because change is inevitable, if they resist change, life will usually throw something at them to force the change on them. Worry is an earth type is most challenging emotion. They are enablers for codependent relationships, attempting to control situations all for the purpose of averting potential change. They are great caretakers but when gone overboard, they become nagging, overprotective, hovering and nosy. They are prone to clutter because of their inability to let go of things due to resistance to accepting change. This also goes for emotional clutter, thoughts, grudges and memories.

TOO MUCH YIN ENERGY

Too much yin, results in an excess of earth energy, which will cause stagnation. Like stops moving forward, which leads to depression. When earth feels the inability to put things into motion, adding wood and fire elements provides them with the passion and excitement for change. As wood initiates with its vision and fire sets it into motion with its passion. Thinking ahead helps earth types to feel excited about change and avoid the nostalgia that comes with change.

TOO MUCH YANG ENERGY

If too much yang energy is presented as too much wood or fire, earth elements can feel ungrounded. Just like a plant, it would need more soil to feel rooted and grow strong. If it gets too much sunlight and not enough soil it cannot survive. Similar to a house being built without the proper foundation, grounding is necessary for stability. Feeling ungrounded for earth people manifests as over-thinkers, too much in their heads, so a great remedy is to plant flowers, lie on the grass, or take nature walks.
